S.V. Legacy

Bimini • Gun Cay • The Berry Islands • Great Abaco • Freeport • Nassau
Best Itinerary for:
• World’s Best Beaches! • Deep-Sea and Shallow Water Fishing: Bonefish, Sailfish, Tuna, Wahoo, Marlin... • Excellent Water Sports • Watersports • Duty-Free Shopping • Snorkeling, diving and whoopin’ it up! (Bimini, Nassau and Grand Bahama). • Summer Kids Program

Hundreds of coral islands peer above the waves just 50 miles off the Florida coast. Hypnotic beyond belief, bathing in the Bahamas is like swimming in a sea of warm liquid light. Her bright blue waters and satin sands inspired authors like Ernest Hemingway to spin adventurous tales about the allure of the southern sea, big game fish, and rum swizzled nights. A safe haven for super-stars and artists, sailors and anglers, the 700 mostly undeveloped islands are also home to 5% of the world’s reefs. Whales and wild dolphins are common sightings and legend says they are the keepers of the lost civilization, Atlantis.

Miami
Miami is the perfect port for Legacy’s exciting new itinerary in the Bahamas. Latin culture heats up the Magic City, famous for its 1930’s Art Deco architecture, trendy nightclubs, and world-class beaches. Yet, the favorite vacation destination of the stars is still a down-home den of yachtsmen, sun-seekers, anglers and kentucky-fried misfits. With cheap daily flights, Miami is ideal for mates who don’t want to travel far from home to get that far away, feet-up-on-the-rail feeling.

Bimini
Bimini is a legendary island known for big fish tournaments, wicked wreck diving, and spotted Atlantic dolphins that seek human interaction only in the wild. Don’t be shocked if you see the ghost of Ernest after a few drinks at The Complete Angler. It was Hemingway’s favorite watering hole during the 1930’s. Another unsolved mystery lurks just offshore where unique rock formations rise in perfect angles from the seabed. This mysterious site is said to be an ancient roadway leading to the sunken continent, Atlantis.

Gun Cay
Don’t blink! ... because you might just miss Gun Cay, a teensy-weensy islet floating in the bluest water on earth. A highlight of the day is lunch and drinks on the beach served by your fabulous crew. The sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling are all first class. Local population: zero.

The Berry Islands
Depending on the whim of the wind, your crew will drop anchor at one of the sandy cays known collectively as The Berries. Swim ashore to the deserted beach ... lounge and play until your Captain rings the ‘happy hour’ bell, a daily reminder that rum swizzles and a gorgeous sunset await you on the top deck. Out here in “baja land” it’s just you and a never-ending sea of rolling sandbars, islets, and gin-clear water.

Great Abaco
The Sea of Abaco is blessed with smooth sailing conditions that yachting folk adore. Every beach bar along the way flaunts its own secret recipe for rum punch and conch; delicious Bahamian conch served any way you like it: conch fritters ... cracked conch ... conch ceviche ... conch chowder! S.V. Legacy will drop anchor off Rock Point where mountains of delicate corals live among an eternal kaleidoscope of fish. The snorkeling is intense! Wanna stretch your sea legs on terra firma? Head ashore to Sandy Beach, or follow a 2-mile trail to Abaco National Park, a natural sanctuary for the rare Bahama Parrot.

Freeport, Grand Bahama
The resort town of Freeport/Lucaya is unique in all the Bahamas ... it came to life in the 1960’s when free love decided it needed a vacation. You can still have a groovin’ time walking around the colorful shops, lively bars and restaurants. There are beaches to suit every taste. Silver Beach and Xanadu Beach attract action heroes who like to water ski, parasail, jet-ski, windsurf and party all day. Fortune Beach, among others, is a beautiful tropical stretch of white sand, calm seas and little else. Looking for something relaxing to do? Follow local advice: sit your booty down, order a beer and chill-out like an islander.

Nassau, New Providence
Life in the Capital revolves around the historic wharf, the center for Bahamian commerce and politics. Once ashore, the marketplace buzzes with excitement. Open-air stalls sell everything from straw hats and hammocks to Cuban cigars. Good luck getting back to ship without braided hair because those Bahama Mamas could coax a bald man into their clutches. A unique way to explore downtown–with all its museums, botanical gardens, shops and historic architecture–is by horse-drawn carriage where you’ll see big Colonial-style buildings painted in soft island pastels. The sights of Nassau are simply charming.
